The organisation

You may have known us under the name of Interzorg Oss/Rivierenland, the home care organisation that has provided private home care in Brabant and Gelderland since 1987. Since that year we have also been a job exchange organisation for the home care sector, helping independent service providers and arranging contacts with clients who desire home care. As of 1 June 2004 Interzorg Rivierenland has stretched its wings and now provides home care throughout the country under the new name of ‘Thuiszorg De Lage Landen’. Thuiszorg De Lage Landen acts as an intermediary in the following fields:

  • nursing and domiciliary care
  • intensive home care
  • 24 hour domiciliary care and nursing care
  • care for the elderly and counselling
  • home help
  • domestic care
  • care for disabled persons

For whom can Thuiszorg De Lage Landen act as an intermediary?

Some home care activities require specific know-how, skills and special care experience. In those cases qualifications as a nurse or carer are indispensable. However, not every care need requires specific training. It is also possible for people with a wide experience of life and affinity for health care to become excellent service providers. We think, for example, of situations where support and assistance play a major role in the care given. Involvement and a solid relationship based on mutual trust are key factors here.

Autonomy and advantages of being an independent service provider

You are not employed on a permanent basis and you are completely free in your work as a care professional. Days, times and hours you want to work are decided in consultation with your client, which makes working as an independent service provider very attractive. Thus you can combine your work as a care professional with your private life, your studies or other activities you wish to continue while working as a freelancer.

Responsibilities

Working as an independent service provider has many advantages but it also entails a number of responsibilities, one of which is keeping skills and expertise as a professional up to date. We feel that know-how, skills, competence and qualifications are very important for a professional who wants to continue to provide high-quality care. These are issues that deserve your full attention, because you are personally responsible for the quality and continuation of the care that you provide. You are also responsible for your own financial administration. You can, of course, always contact us for advice. The organisation that specifically looks after your interests and offers counselling and support is BOZZ, tel.: 0162 408 103. You can also contact them for advice on how to start a financial administration and keep the accounts.

We would also like to draw your attention to your personal presentation. It is important for you as an independent service provider to pay attention to your external care and the way you are dressed. Your future clients will appreciate this.

The tax authorities have formulated a number of requirements that an independent service provider must meet. You are responsible for your own income and you bear a debtor risk. You are also responsible for taking out a professional indemnity insurance. Taking out a medical expenses insurance and / or disability insurance may apply to you as well. Every year you make your tax return on your income and paying taxes also belongs to the responsibilities of an independent service provider. For more detailed information go to the site of the tax department (http://www.belastingdienst.nl/) or call number 0800 0443.

In what way do we act as intermediaries?

Clients or their relations get directly in touch with Thuiszorg De Lage Landen to ask for care. We also get requests for tailored home care through our close contacts with hospitals, general practitioners, home care organisations, Regional Indication Bodies, MEEs ( Organisation helping people with a disability, formerly called SPD) and service flats.
Before we start mediating we discuss with you the requirements and needs of the client on a confidential basis. This will give you a first clear picture of the client who desires home care and the situation in which home care will be provided. After that you discuss with the client whether your skills and the service you provide will meet his or her needs. By gearing your skills and possibilities as much as possible to the requirements and needs of the client we are able to accomplish mediation that results in excellent care for the client.
The number of hours we can arrange for you is also dependent on your availability, your flexibility and whether you are prepared to commute.

When our mediation has been successful, Thuiszorg De Lage Landen uses the ‘Commission Contract’ supplemented with ‘General Terms and Conditions’.
